Specialty Treatment Courts

Felony Drug Court

Adult drug court programs provide eligible, non-violent, felony offenders the opportunity to participate in a highly structured, court supervised treatment program in lieu of incarceration. Garfield County has operated a drug court since 2004 for adult offenders.

This program is offered through the District Attorney’s office. Not all offenders are eligible to participate in this program. Potential clients are assessed to determine their willingness and ability to receive treatment.

Family Treatment Court

Family Treatment Court (FTC) was created to address the poor outcomes of traditional reunification with caregivers who struggle with substance use issues and have had their child(ren) placed in custody of Oklahoma’s Department of Human Services (DHS).

The mission of Family Treatment Court is to increase reunification and treatment completion.

Misdemeanor Drug Court

Adult drug court programs provide eligible, non-violent, misdemeanor offenders the opportunity to participate in a highly structured, court supervised treatment program in lieu of incarceration.

This program is offered through the District Attorney’s office. Not all offenders are eligible to participate in this program.

Mental Health Court

Graduates of mental health court are nearly eight times less likely to become incarcerated compared to released inmates, and nearly 14 times less likely to be incarcerated than released inmates who have been diagnosed as having a serious mental illness.  Program graduates have seen a 60 percent drop in unemployment, a 97 percent decrease in arrests, and an 89 percent decrease in the number of days spent in jail.  Graduates of the program also show a 63 percent decrease in the number of needed inpatient hospital days.

Juvenile Drug Court

Opened in 2000, juvenile drug court programs provide eligible, non-violent, juvenile offenders the opportunity to participate in a highly structured, court supervised treatment program in lieu of incarceration.

This program is offered through the District Attorney’s office. Not all offenders are eligible to participate in this program. Potential clients are assessed to determine their willingness and ability to receive treatment.
